About Cheshire Historyscapes

Hello, and welcome to Cheshire Historyscapes! My name is Claire Moores and I am an independent history researcher with over 20 years experience of genealogical and local historical research projects, with a particular interest in the landscape  and social history of Cheshire.

Over the last six years, I have developed a well researched and entertaining popular programme of lectures which can be booked for your society or group on diverse topics, such as Divorce Records, Soap Making in Cheshire, and the Art of the Con in the Nineteenth Century.  The full list can be accessed by clicking on the Booking Your Talk tab.

My principal geographical areas of study in Cheshire are Great Warford and Marthall, near Alderley Edge, and I have set up a successful community history website for the parishes which can be accessed here :  www.warfordhistory.co.uk

The particular interest and research into Mary Dendy Hospital in Great Warford, led me to be involved as a subject expert in the BBC programme “Silenced: The Hidden Story of Disabled Britain”, an achievement I am very proud of, as I was able to reveal the stories of many people who were part of my parish, whose lives had been all but forgotten, and were very close to my heart.
